Saju is a Korean tradition that interprets four pairs of calendar symbols. We explain the symbols in English and use them as prompts for reflection.
Four Pillars, in plain English
The four pillars represent the birth year, month, day and hour. Each combines a stem and a branch. We display romanized stem names and animal names so you can read the result without knowing Chinese characters.
What is a day master?
The day master is the stem associated with your birth day. Its traditional element, such as Wood or Metal, provides a starting point for interpretation. It is not a measured personality trait. Element counts show the visible symbols only; they are not a complete assessment of balance or strength.
Birthplace solar time
Enter the Gregorian birth date, the clock time on the record, the birthplace time zone and longitude. City choices supply approximate city-centre coordinates; you can replace them with a more precise longitude.
- We resolve the local clock time using the IANA time zone, including historical daylight-saving changes.
- We account for longitude and the equation of time to estimate apparent solar time.
- We adapt that time to the preserved calculation engine and show the input and solar time together.
Our approximation follows the NOAA solar calculation equations. Solar time is rounded to a minute. Historical time-zone records, city-centre coordinates and the solar approximation have limits. A reading close to a time boundary may change with more precise information.
In solar mode, the traditional day changes at 23:00 apparent solar time. The original Korean reference mode keeps its established fixed boundary: Horse 11:30–13:29 and the day change at 23:30. Reference mode does not apply historical daylight saving or birthplace correction.
If the clock moved forward and a local time did not exist, we ask you to check the record. If a clock change produced two occurrences of a time, we ask which one is intended. If the birth hour is unknown, we use the recorded local date for three pillars and do not guess a solar-day rollover.
Calendar limits
Global input supports Gregorian dates from 1901 to 2099. Convert lunar birth records to Gregorian dates before entering them, including the correct leap-month information. The preserved engine uses day-level solar-term boundaries rather than exact astronomical term instants. Results near a term change may need specialist verification. The yearly reading uses a calendar-year symbol and does not claim an exact transition instant.
How detailed reports are written
A server calculates the chart from the confirmed input. An AI model then writes an English interpretation from those calculated symbols and a defined outline. AI-assisted text can be mistaken or incomplete. It is not scientific evidence about personality, relationships or future events.
